I could not go to any of the big shows except locals like the Leopard release event, better put just release because there wasnt any event. Like the iPhone, a long line of Apple fans.
I did not buy Leopard immediately but just a few weeks ago to install it on my Mac mini that I bought in August. 1.83GHz, 80GB, 1GB, ComboDrive. I sold my noisy, bulky, heavy, and slow Celeron equipped three-years old Vaio type- K and bought a 19-inch Dell and a desk at IKEA to put my mini on it. For those of you who live in Japan, I was going to sell my PC to Sofmap because thats where my dad sold his a few years ago, but I found out a smaller but better place. Its not that I have sold many PCs but I believe these guys give you more for your used PC. The place is call Janpara. Sounds like it. I am not sure if it was Janbara.... I bought my Vaio type K three years ago for 120,000 yens. 15.4inch, 60GB, 2.66GHZ, DVD-burner... I kept it very clean and they gave me 4,6800 yens. I felt pretty good. BTW, IKEA in Funabashi.
Ok, I installed Leopard on my mini as an upgrade but did not like it. I read somewhere that it eats up space more than Tiger and that it was a little slow. Exactly as I read that happened. It was the first time I did an upgrade to a computer. My iTunes library was there, music and podcasts. I did not like the speed of it and I decided to do a clean install. So I did it but changed the HDD before doing it. Now Leopard is on a 120GB WD. I upgraded the RAM to 2Gigs and now Leopard runs as smoothly as the Tiger did. The only problem is that Leopard does not recognize my wireless network. With Tiger I did not have problems. Strange. My sister's MacBook with Leopard has no problems recognizing it. WTH?
I can now dual boot Leopard and Vista and compare them. Vista is slow to boot up. Imagine that on a just announced HP mini PC with VIA CPU on board. No way. Better get Ubuntu on it.
So far, I am liking it. Some critics do not like Leopard, I read. But for me it is fine. Besides not recognizing my WLAN, its all fine. The icons are much better with little images of what they are. Quick Look is nice. Spaces is good. I don't use Time Machine. Stacks is buggy sometimes. But no OS is perfect right?
